Appointed in February 2023, by presidential order, to manage the General Directorate of the Treasury and Public Accounting (DGTCP), a newly created structure within the Finance administration, Thomas Maketa Lutete has great ambitions.

“What I would like people to remember about me is that I am a Congolese who loves his country and who would like our country to emerge from the deplorable state in which it currently finds itself,” he said. he said in an exclusive interview, in which Econews took part, to take stock of year 1 of his appointment to the position of Director General of the DGTCP.

He bases his convictions on an observation: “Our country is in a dangerous zone, it needs a strong, serious state that takes care of its people. And for that the DGTCP can play an important role. But in fact, the State is us Congolese. The State is a manifestation of us citizens. We must question ourselves and work honestly for our people.”

He therefore sees himself endowed with a mission: “I would like that the day I leave the DGTCP, I leave behind an institution that is stable, efficient and above all one that fully contributes to the development of our people. I would like that the day I leave, that people will think of me as an honest servant of the state, a builder and not as a thief. And I ask every Congolese who loves this country to accompany me.
